Power, Oil, and the Sovereign Wealth Fund

Power, Oil, and the Sovereign Wealth Fund

Cover with Oslo Background

A research trip through Scandinavia defined the summer and sharpened the backdrop for the upcoming volume of the Nordic Protocols. The rugged, desolate island landscapes of the North set the scene for a plot that moves even further north this time – right to the edge of the Arctic ice. More details on this project will follow in the next update.

However, I also used the time between travel stages to strengthen the narrative foundation of the existing volumes. The primary focus was on Volume 2: Patagonian Target.

The Geopolitical Lever

The novel connects two worlds that seem distant at first glance: the polished surface of Scandinavian financial architecture and the raw interests surrounding one of the world’s largest shale oil fields in South America. It centers on billions funneled under the guise of green investments to drive political coups and secure access to strategic resources.

To highlight these connections between European capital and global power plays with greater precision, I restructured the text and significantly expanded the Norwegian storyline.

Joining the plot is Egil Olsen, director of the Government Pension Fund of Norway. Managing the country’s massive offshore oil revenues, he oversees a fund with immense global leverage. In the novel, Olsen gets wind of covert financial flows backing the coup in Argentina and reaches out to the journalist Erik.

This perspective on the intersection between sovereign finance and resource politics gives Patagonian Target greater depth and makes the underlying conflict far more tangible. The revised edition is available now on Amazon, or on Kobo, Apple Books or Google Play Books.
